  Strong Interest in 2011 Clearfield® Challenge

  The Clearfield^® Canola Yield Challenge is on again – and it’s bigger than ever. This year – the third time the competition has been run – growers from each canola‐growing state will vie for championship honours and the chance of an overseas study tour.

   Last year, about 30 canola growers from Western Australia, New South Wales and Victoria grew Clearfield canola side‐by‐side in the same paddock as triazine‐tolerant (TT) canola.

  Clearfield® a giant in the wet

  Standing two metres high and with stalks like tree trunks, Clearfield canola has emerged as the stand-out hybrid in a crop trial conducted at a number of sites around Victoria and southern NSW.

  Several local growers in the saturated country around Albury took part in BASF’s Clearfield Canola Challenge, to grow the highest gross margin Pioneer Clearfield hybrid canola crop possible.

  Singing the praises of Opera®

  Despite one of the wettest years on record, new fungicide Opera has shown its star qualities by protecting trial wheat crops in southern Australia from rust.

  Trial sites at Coolamon, Gunnedah and Quirindi in New South Wales and Marnoo and Streatham in Victoria have shown not only increased yields and improved crop health, but also clear differences in how long the plots stayed green.

  2010 Clearfield® Canola Challenge winners

  The Clearfield^® Canola Yield Challenge invites growers from each canola‐growing state to put their farming skills to work in pursuit of championship honours and the chance of an overseas study tour.

  Last year, about 30 canola growers from New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia grew Clearfield canola side‐by‐side in the same paddock as triazine‐tolerant (TT) canola.

  Clearfield® holds up in WA drought

  Despite a very tough season in Western Australia, one farmer has been delighted with his first foray into Clearfield^® Canola. They entered the Clearfield Canola Challenge to compare the local gross margins of Clearfield and Triazine Tolerant (TT) canola in WA.
