Canola - common questions
Q. When can I apply Intervix® Herbicide?
A. From the 2 leaf crop stage. Intervix is rigorously tested by seed companies. Seeds are highly tolerant of Intervix from the 2 leaf stage.
Q. Do I need to wait until all weeds have germinated before
I apply Intervix Herbicide?
A. No Intervix has excellent residual activity when used at the higher label rates. Growers risk yield penalties by applying later in the crop cycle.
Q. Are Clearfield® Canola varieties genetically modified organisms (GMO)?
A. All of the currently registered or soon to be registered Clearfield Canola varieties were developed using traditional plant breeding methods. Therefore, Clearfield crops are treated as conventional crops and are approved for export worldwide.
Q. How is Clearfield technology different from ROUNDUP READY or LibertyLink ?
A. In addition to offering growers a non-GMO choice, we’re offering the only broad spectrum weed control technology that provides contact and soil activity control across more crops and more countries.
Through the Clearfield brand, our customers will instantly recognize superior seed genetics combined with season-long, broad spectrum weed control. Weed control from planting through until harvest clearly differentiates the value offered by Clearfield technology systems.
Q. How does the Clearfield production system fit into the GMO debate? Are Clearfield crops GMOs?
A. All of the currently registered or soon to be available Clearfield crops are non-GMO. They were developed using enhanced plant breeding and selection methods, and contain no foreign DNA. The exception to this is Clearfield corn hybrids that also contain traits such as Bt insect resistance or another herbicide tolerance trait, which our seed partners have introduced using transgenic technology. BASF, with the acquisition of Cyanamid, and through our seed partners, continues to offer farmers the broadest range of non-GMO herbicide tolerant crops derived through non-transgenic methods.
